Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski has nothing left to prove inside the Octagon -- except maybe the fire to extend his career as he faces up-and-coming Augusto Sakai at UFC Fight Night 150. Get some insight on their bout through the numbers below.
Age and overall experience
When Sakai made his professional debut on Oct. 15, 2011, Arlovski was preparing for his 26th professional bout. Sakai will be celebrating his 27th birthday on May 19, a little less than a month after his match with Arlovski, who will be coming into that bout a 40-year-old veteran. “The Pitbull” currently sports a record of 27-17, with two no contests, and has fought all over the world against the best in his division. Meanwhile, Sakai will be only be going for his 15th professional fight on April 27.Octagon appearances
Arlovski made a successful Octagon debut with a 0:55 submission of Aaron Brink at UFC 28. He went on to beat Tim Sylvia for the UFC interim heavyweight title, and was later promoted to undisputed champion. Arlovski lost the belt to Sylvia in a rematch and fell short again in a rubber match. With a record of 10-4, he bowed out from the promotion.On his return at UFC 174, he earned a split decision victory over Brendan Schaub, and then fought 13 times more. His UFC record now stands at 16-11, with one no contest. His counterpart, on the other hand, will be going for his second UFC fight after an impressive debut where he knocked out Chase Sherman.
