Octagon appearances
Dern’s upcoming bout will mark her third foray into the Octagon. She debuted in the UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Ashley Yoder at UFC 222 held on March 3, 2018, and then followed that up by submitting Amanda Bobby Cooper just two months later at UFC 224. Like Dern, Ribas is also undefeated in the UFC, having won her debut against Emily Whitmire at UFC on ESPN 3, which took place on June 29.UFC debut performance
In her UFC debut, Dern was tested by Ashley Yoder. While there were occasions when she looked outmatched on the feet, Dern still landed more significant strikes with 70 to Yoder’s 52. She was also able to take her opponent to the ground once, something Yoder wasn’t able to do. In the end, Dern was awarded the split decision victory.Ribas didn’t need three full rounds to make her first UFC bout count. At 2:10 of Round 2, she managed to sink in the rear-naked choke that ended the night early for Whitmire. Before that, she had landed 21 significant strikes and two takedowns compared to Whitmire’s seven and zero.
