(PRESS RELEASE) -- Bas Rutten, former UFC Heavyweight Champion and three-time King of Pancrase, is making his return to the world of competitive mixed martial
arts by hosting his very own amateur event on January 26, 2014 as the
kick-off to a new league of MMA fights titled TAO MMA! Partnering with the
city of Thousand Oaks, California, Bas Rutten Presents "The Art of MMA" (TAO
MMA) will be held at the city's illustrious Civic Arts Plaza.
TAO MMA is an event designed to showcase 20 of the best of Southern
California's ameteur fighters, representing talent from Rutten's own gym,
Elite MMA, as well as other respected gyms from around the region. The
event will serve as a venue for these up-and-coming competitors to display
their hard work and athletic dedication in the world's fastest growing
sport.
As host of AXS TVs "Inside MMA" and color commentator for World Series of
Fighting (WSOF) for NBC Sports, Bas Rutten has become one of the sport's
most respected and charismatic ambassadors, displaying a range in knowledge
of the fight game that is rivaled by no other. With supporting roles in
feature films, most recently in the Kevin James MMA-themed comedy, "Here
Comes the Boom", Rutten's star is growing ever larger, and his dedication to
the field of amateur mixed martial arts competition is more than welcome.
